The Soberania National Park is one of the best places in the world for bird watching. Located in the central zone of the Panama Canal, this 17 kilometers of road gives you access to a secondary forest. It is the perfect to observe a diversity of flora and fauna. More than 350 species have been seen in just one day!
This is the day for nature lovers, especially for those who enjoy bird watching at its best. Pipeline road is within Soberania National Park and this lush park belongs to the Panama Canal Watershed. We will start at the entrance of the Soberania National Park and then hike until the Agua Salud River where we will walk to a waterfall and enjoy a refreshing dip surrounded by nature.
These protected forest shelters 385 bird species, which were counted in 24 hours, in the 1985 Christmas Bird Count organized by the Panama Audubon Society. This figure established a new Guinness record. Actually, Pipeline Road is also subject of different scientific research from several institutions, including studies of plants, insects, reptiles, mammals and much more.
Our naturalist tour guide will expose you the secrets of this tropical rainforest while you walk along Pipeline Road. On the way back, stop at Miraflores Locks to watch the Panama Canal Commission Audiovisual and see how big vessels transit the locks of the Canal. You will have free time to enjoy lunch, on your own, at the Visitors center of the Canal with an spectacular view of the locks. The return to the hotel will be after lunch.
